What is Volunteering?

Volunteering is giving your time freely, to benefit someone unrelated, a group, or the environment, for no financial reward.  You should not expect to be out of pocket however, and you should be able to claim reimbursement of expenses incurred.

As a volunteer you can choose how much time you want to give, and what you want to do.  And it’s not all about what you give. In return you can get so much out of it: enjoyment, learning new skills, doing something productive with your time, enhancing your CV, a sense of achievement, confidence, meeting new friends, a reference, training...
